Joanne graduated from Birmingham University with a law degree and qualified as a solicitor in 1998. Joanne joined London media & entertainment firm Harbottle & Lewis in January 2001 where she worked closely with Dermot in the Employment Group, becoming a partner in 2007 managing a team of employment lawyers. Joanne joined Scully Twiss as a partner in March 2010.
Joanne has specialised in employment law since qualification and advises employer clients on the full range of employment matters, including the usual day-to-day HR issues, redundancies, business reorganisation, work place disputes, outsourcing and TUPE issues.
Joanne has significant expertise in employment litigation and dispute resolution, having successfully managed many cases in the Employment Tribunals and the Employment Appeal Tribunal. In particular, Joanne has been involved in successfully defending employers in a number of high value discrimination claims. Joanne is also very experienced in mediation and has successfully resolved many claims by way of Judicial Mediation and Acas conciliation.
Joanne advises clients from all industry sectors, including retail, financial services, the legal sector, media, entertainment, publishing, digital technology, sport, recruitment, international events organisers and arts and is used to working closely with HR professionals, in-house legal counsel, board directors, law firm partners and barristers. Joanne has excellent experience across the full range of employment issues that an employer is likely to face and is also used to dealing with issues which are specific to particular industry sectors.
