Annual National Minimum Wage Rate Increases

From 1 October 2016 the National Minimum Wage increased:

  • The National Living Wage (for workers aged 25 and over) remained at £7.20 an hour
  • The standard adult rate (for workers aged 21 to 24) rose from £6.70 to £6.95 an hour
  • The rate for workers aged between 18 and 20 rose from £5.30 to £5.55 an hour
  • The rate for workers aged under 18 (but above the compulsory school age who are not apprentices) rose from £3.87 to £4.00 an hour
  • The rate for apprentices rose from £3.30 to £3.40 an hour
